Everyone, including the baby, will have to get used to the new situation. So this is a period where you could use your rest but also could use help and advice. Therefore, it is very important to have a maternity nurse present with you during the maternity period, who will be with you for several hours every day and assist you in word and deed. We will also visit you regularly at home during the first week for check-ups and further guidance.
The consultation office in Haarlem
About 6 days after delivery the heel prick and hearing test are done. This is your first contact with the consultation office. The JGZ, youth health care, then takes over the care of the health of your baby. You go there every month for checkups & vaccinations. You can also ask for more help there, if needed. Besides the regular consultation office in Haarlem, it is also possible to go to the anthroposophic consultation office in the Therapeuticum. Above all, see what suits you best and what feels right.
Last contact with Bolwerk
Even if you have spent your pregnancy and delivery in the hospital under the supervision of the gynecologist, we will supervise you during the week(s) after your delivery. You can contact us about this. About 6 weeks after delivery, you have the option of having a follow-up checkup at the practice. You may make your own appointment for that with the midwife you would like to see again.
We look back on the delivery and check that you have physically recovered. We would like to know how the baby is doing and how you are doing as new parents. During this appointment we discuss contraception again. This appointment will also be our last contact for this pregnancy, so we would like to know how you experienced our care and hope you will fill out the survey, which you will receive through the mail.

By acknowledging and declaring the baby, you as a father/partner are not yet automatically the child’s legal representative. For this, joint custody must be requested. Using this form, you and the other parent can easily apply for joint custody of your child digitally.
Both parents log in with their DigiD. You will need your child’s Social Security Number (BSN) when filling out the form. After completing the form, your application will be processed.
